WELCOME!
I'm so glad you're here. Welcome to State of Grace Counseling Services, where your journey to healing begins. My name is Kelsey, and I believe in the power of recovery and am here to support you along the way. My goal is to help you find hope, healing, peace, and freedom from your underlying pain- to achieve your 'state of grace'.

ABOUT ME
MY MISSION
Hi! My name is Kelsey! I am a fully-licensed therapist who loves working with people with eating disorders, body image issues, OCD, anxiety, childhood sexual abuse, trauma, life transitions, and relationship concerns. At State of Grace Counseling Services, I am dedicated to providing a safe and compassionate space for individuals to explore their mental health, eating disorder, and trauma recovery needs. My mission is to empower clients and their families to overcome challenges, build fulfilling relationships, and increase happiness and meaning in life. I have worked in the eating disorder space for more than 6 years, including being the Clinical Director of an eating disorder program.
I grew up in Richmond, VA, attended undergrad at Furman University, and completed my Masters degree at VCU. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS).
When I am not seeing clients, I enjoy time with friends, hiking, traveling, reading, exploring new restaurants, and game nights.
And yes, the practice name is a nod to both my love of Christ as well as my love of Taylor Swift; gotta love dialectics!
I look forward to working together!

MY APPROACH
I believe in a holistic approach to therapy, addressing the emotional, psychological, spiritual, and relational aspects of clients' lives. My therapeutic interventions are evidence-based and tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual and family I serve. I practice from a non-diet, weight inclusive perspective. I utilize relational, psychodynamic, and DBT principles in my practice. I am also trained and certified in EMDR. I use a combination of top-down and bottom-up techniques in session, meaning we will focus on both challenging and changing your thought processes and core beliefs as well as utilize your body and nervous system as a resource to tap into needs, hurts, and pains that deserve time, attention, and care.

MY VALUES
At State of Grace Counseling Services, I value empathy, respect, and, of course, grace. I strive to create a non-judgmental and inclusive environment where every client feels heard, understood, and supported. I practice from a faith-based perspective, rooted in a strong, loving relationship with Christ, for clients who are interested in incorporating faith into their healing journey. I am queer affirming and invite all types and sizes of people to sit on my couch!

SERVICES

Individual/Family Therapy
I offer in person and virtual counseling services for adolescents, young adults, and adults in the state of Georgia and virtual services in South Carolina and Florida. I offer family therapy and couples therapy as well. I can utilize EMDR, DBT, and faith-based services for individual clients.

Family Based Treatment (FBT)
In FBT, parents take a leadership position in their child’s treatment and the therapist works as a "clinical director" to guide the recovery process at home. With support and guidance, I coach parents in how to create a home environment that is conducive to recovery. There is a focus on health restoration and returning independence as the child is ready.

Supervision
I am passionate about helping new therapists grow in their confidence and competence as counselors. I am a Certified Foundational Clinical Supervisor (CFCS), I provide supervision for those working towards their LCSW.
FAQs
Do you accept insurance?
I currently accept Aetna insurance only. Generally, I am an out-of-network provider. This means that I do not work directly with insurance (except Aetna). However, I am happy to provide a superbill, which is a receipt for services that includes all necessary insurance codes, that can be sent to your insurance for reimbursement. I also accept HSA and FSA cards. If this is something you are interested in, I recommend asking your insurance about your mental health benefits as well as your out-of-network benefits.
What are your fees?
An individual, couples, or family counseling session is $150 for 50-55 minutes. Supervision is $120 per hour and can be shared with another supervisee. I also offer sliding scale sessions on an as-needed and as-available basis.
What is your cancellation policy?
I kindly ask for at least 48 hours notice for any appointment cancellations. Failure to provide appropriate notice results in being charged the full fee for your session.
